It’s important for a client to see the brain behind the style. Choose a well recognized text so an Art Director can understand how you interpret and respond to a brief.
Studied: BA English and Drama, London University
Nick left university in 1981 with an English and Drama degree and set off to become a famous actor. After a few years of not being a famous actor he found out that he as actually quite good at drawing. He gained commissions for The Times, The Guardian and The Independent among others. The birth of Nicks daughter inspired his interest in drawing for Children’s books and with out looking back he has become one of the UK’s most celebrated Children’s book illustrators. To date he has won the V&A Illustration Award, a Silver Award from the American Society of Illustrators and is also the proud owner of a glass thingamijig which The Book Trust gave him for a book called ‘Oliver who Travelled Far and Wide’ which was written by his friend Mara Bergman.
